Year 11 option

KSSC is open to Young People between the ages of 13-25 who are interested in becoming Peer Educators. 

The “Keep Safe Stay Cool” Program is offered throughout High Schools as a Year 11, Community Studies option.   This program offers Year 11 students - 2 SACE points for the whole year of attendance.  Year 11 students are required to undertake 50 hours of training; and 50 hours of planning /presentation session time.  The program is hosted by The Noarlunga Health Village (Southern Adelaide Health Service); therefore students are expected to undertake training at the Noarlunga Health Village venue.  Most training occurs after school hours and is conducted in a youth friendly/safe environment and offer adult learning styles of education. 

Working in collaboration

KSSC as a Community Studies option requires collaboration between the School of interest, School SSABSA /SACE coordinator, SSABSA Representative and KSSC coordinator.  It is up to the school to submit the contract and student outcomes to the SSABSA board as required. 

The year 11 student is expected to provide a commitment to attendance, training, planning and presentations.  The student is required to fill in the contract between KSSC and SSABSA board and to keep a folder of information/ and notes taken during the process.
